Earth Hour

It is awfully dark here in our house at the moment. We are all sitting in the dark observing Earth Hour. You are meant to turn all your lights off for one hour from 8 pm to 9pm on 29 March as a sign to show you care about Climate Change and want to do something about it. This family uses a lot of lights over a 24 hour period - Andrew is up before the suna nd turns on the lights for an hour until he goes to work, then at night the lights, at least one stay on until Gregory goes to bed at 1 or 2 am!! This means they are only off for 3 hours of dark! Eeeek that sounds really bad doesn't it??

Anyway they are all off now and will be for another 24 minutes! Maybe I should do it every night!!

I get a bit melancholy just before my birthday (I will be 45 in 13 days!!) every year - not because I am getting older but because I always want to achieve so much in the year and never seem to get it all done. It is a bit like New Year's Resolutions, I suppose! Ha!! I didn't make any of those this year!

Ain't it always the way!! I was trying to teach Daniel a ball game I used to play when I was his age today. Do you think I could remember all of it?? No!! If anyone else played a game where you threw a ball against a wall in different ways, if you dropped the ball or didn't catch it, it was the other person's turn and then you had to start at the beginning again when it was your turn again. The first was catch 10 times straight off the wall, then 9 times by throwing and letting it bounce before you caught it, then 8 times bounced on the ground and then the wall then catch it. Some of the others were clap before catching again and turning round while the ball was in flight to the wall and back. Can anyone else remember the game, what it was called or the other things you had to do before catching the ball??

Oaky Dokey off to make a cup of tea in the dark and veg out in front of the idiot box for a bit!!

And that folks is it for tonight - I am exhausted. Gym this morning, then errands around town, then late lunch, washing, off to Cub and Joey Scouts, home to eat dinner and watch Biggest Loser!! I'm all done!!

Off to do some Ice Skating and Tobagganing tomorrow in Mount Gambier, so I need to rest up!

Yep pretty sure I was! I was enjoying putting them on my blog but then like most things when you don't do it for a while you get out of the habit!! Bit like my walking - said it was too hot to go and it was for about 2 weeks - so decided to go today and what happens I get wet - it rained on me!!!

After the museum

we went to the Millicent Swimming Lake. Daniel got to have a swim and build some sandcastles with his friends, Gregory had a paddle in a canoe that some friends brought along ( actually looks like he is sleeping here!!) and I got to have a big chat. (surprise surprise!)

Homeschool Excursion

to the Millicent Museum. For a small country town, Millicent, sure has a great museum! It has so many different parts to it - something for everyone to look at and learn about.
These are just a few shots of some of the things I liked the best.

Isn't this old pram gorgeous - not sure the bear is very old?? It didn't look worn at all! But loved the pram!

Geelong Visit

Gregory was invited to a party by one of his friends. Fine if he lived just down the next street - no... he lives 4.5 hours away in Geelong.

So what' s a Mother supposed to do?? Drive to Geelong for the weekend of course!

I nearly got to go by myself then Daniel found out and said that he had such a good time last time that he wanted to go again. So I took the opportunity to find a flight for Mum from Avalon to Brisbane and so we all set off for the weekend.

It is a lovely city to visit and probably to live in too.
Daniel had to show Granny the Bollards along eastern Beach.

This time the carousel was in operation, so Daniel hopped on and went round and round so many times, I was feeling sick!!

Then we went for a wander further down the beach and found somewhere nice to eat lunch. Daniel finished his lunch almost before ours arrived so he went to sit on the beach front. Wonder what he was thinking about???

We hit the shops for a little bit. We found this huge bubble blower at Spotlight - what fun!

Not lost.....

... just busy with life, the universe and everything in betweeen.

Easter here in our little house was very quiet, watched a couple of DVDs, went for a drive to Hell's Hole, went to the moveis, ate lots of chocolate and some very dodgy fish and chips from Mount Gambier!!

Here is a shot of Daniel collecting some eggs in the grass. He found quite a few - that bunny sure was a busy little fella! The boys ended up with about half a basket full of eggs, a bilby and a gift from us and a family size block of Cadbury's chocolate from Mum. Of course Daniel, aka the chocaholic, has only a small amount of his block left, while Gregory has a few eggs and the whole block left!
It is the same every year.



This is the track to Hell's Hole, which is about 10 minutes south east of Mount Gambier. Unfortunately I had only taken my zoom lens, so I couldn't get back far enough to actually get a photo of the hole! It is surrounded by bush and you can only see it if you walk out onto a viewing balcony thingy!

I vowed to get a decent photo of Gregory, instead of just his hair. I told him I was going to keep snapping until I got one so he had better get used to it. He started talking about something and while he was talking I kept shooting and this is the best of the 100 photos! He has a half a smirk, which summs up his mood that day - a little bit cheeky but definitely happy!

Daniel has now decided that he is not keen on photos either. Arggghh, what is a girl supposed to do?? I caught him in this one while he was laughing at Gregory not wanting his photo taken!!

Two gorgeous boys aren't I a lucky Mummy???
